Hi Cycling Friends,
It is raining right now as I type this. Although I would like to be out on my bike instead, I am hoping that spring showers will bring the most amazing Wildflowers because the 2018 Wildflower Pedalfest will be here before we know it! Watch facebook this week for an image of the 2018 t-shirt design. I think you are going to love it!
We had a lot of fun at our Wildflower paint and yoga night last week. We have some very talented artists among us and the rest of us had a lot of fun:)! We would love to have more of you join us in April.
Wildflower April Events (open to all of our Wildflower friends):
April 14th – Support trails by digging and maintaining. WomenMTB Bingham Cyclery Weber Club will be getting together for a dig day at Ogden Bike Park. Follow this link for more information: https://womenmtb.
All Wildflower Cycling Club Members are welcome to participate in WomenMTB activities and their group rides that will be starting once the trails are dry.
April 24th– Join Wildflower, Bingham Cyclery, and Specialized for an awesome girls night out at the Bingham Cyclery in SLC from 6:30-8:30 pm. We have 4 different classes planned and you will be able to choose 3 (each class will last 30 minutes): 1. New Kids on the Block for those riders that are on the newer side of riding. 2. Road Respect for all of us… come learn the rules of the road with Keri Gibson and learn things that you can do to keep yourself as safe as possible while sharing the road. 3. Basic Bike Maintenance with Bingham Cyclery. 4. Sarah Kaufmann will be teaching a Hill Climbing 101 class with everything you need to know about how to feel stronger going up the hill.
There will also be food, prizes, and some other fun activities going on. Please RSVP on the facebook event so we know how many to plan for: https://www.facebook.com/
*For those of you who want to train for and participate in this years Wildflower Hillclimb Challenge, I have hired Sarah to make a training plan that will be available to all Wildflower Pedalfest riders after her class on the 24th. She coaches professionally and can help you with being able to achieve whatever your cycling goals are for this season. Some of you may want to use this plan to help you train for the East Canyon climb as well. I will have her make some modifications for that. I also want to organize a Hill Climbing Training Group for the Saturday long rides as part of the Wildflower Cycling Club. Please e-mail me if you would be interested in joining the club and planning and leading a few of those rides.
Our Wildflower Cycling Club is growing every month! We have riders from the Ogden area and the Salt Lake Valley. Besides weekly club rides for both mountain (with women MTB) and road in both Ogden and the Salt Lake area there are lots of other awesome benefits to club membership. If you are looking for a fun, supportive, and confidence building community to connect with as you pursue your cycling goals this is it! We have riders of all ages and riding abilities. You are all wanted and welcome, even if you cannot participate in the 2018 Wildflower Pedalfest.
Bikers Edge in Kaysville has partnered on some other Mountain Bike Clinic opportunities for women as well. Please visit them for more information.
Because the spring weather is so unpredictable it is a good time to focus on cross training. Check out this awesome article from Intermountain Sports Medicine. If you are experiencing any sports related injuries or just want to learn how to live well they are a great resource!
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.
Hope to see you soon!
